How the Bookies See it
- Astros at Blue Jays: Astros 8/11, Blue Jays 11/10 – Sky Bet
- Brewers at Yankees: Yankees 10/21, Brewers 7/4 – William Hill
- Red Sox at Rays: Red Sox 20/29, Rays 5/4 – Bet365
The Houston Astros had been on a winning streak until they came up against the Toronto Blue Jays, who denied them a fifth straight victory. That also meant the Blue Jays extended their unbeaten run to three games.
The LA Dodgers have lost just once in five games, but face form side Kansas City Royals on Saturday, with the Royals boasting a record of four successive wins. Three of those four wins for the Royals came against a struggling Seattle Mariners side, whereas the Dodgers came through all three games with successes over an improving Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Boston Red Sox have moved back up to second in the American League, but have lost their last two games. A heavy 8-2 defeat at the Texas Rangers was followed up with defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays in their first of three games over this weekend. The Rays won one and lost one in midweek against the Cubs.
The Milwaukee Brewers are on a roll, thanks to four wins in a row, which have seen them move up to third in the National League. They visit the New York Yankees who have won just once in their last five games, including two home defeats on the trot.
Just one defeat in their last five games keeps the Houston Astros top of the American League, but that one defeat came last night against the Toronto Blue Jays, who they face again on Saturday. Despite that, the Astros go into the game as strong favourites with the bookies, with Sky Bet offering odds of 8/11. You’ll find 11/10 on the Blue Jays at Ladbrokes, but this one looks to be too close to call.
The Boston Red Sox sit second, but have lost their last two games, including against the Tampa Bay Rays, who they face again on Saturday in their second game of the three-game series. The Rays ran out comfortable 4-1 winners on, but the bookies are putting their faith in the Red Sox to bounce back, with Paddy Power making them the 8/11 favourites. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox, and odds of 5/4 at Bet365 are appealing.
However, the in-form Brewers look the best bet of the week, at 7/4 with William Hill to beat the Yankees on Saturday.
