Pick of the Medal Events
Swimming: Women’s 10k Marathon (13:00 BST) - Team GB could kick off day 10 with a medal in the water as Keri-Anne Payne begins her quest for the women’s 10k marathon title. The 28-year-old collected silver in Beijing, but narrowly missed out on a medal in London four years later. Success in the open water will be tricky for Payne who finds herself well off the pace as far as the bookmakers are concerned, but could a place in British swimming history spur her on to glory?
- Odds: Aurelie Muller 33/10, Poliana Okimoto Cintra 7/1, Ana Marcela Cunha 8/1 - Bet365
Cycling: Men’s Track Omnium (14:00 BST) - Mark Cavendish will aim to put the disappointment of missing out on a place in Team GB’s team pursuit squad behind him as the cycling legend sets his sights on gold in the men’s omnium. The 31-year-old is well fancied for the title, but could miss out to Colombia’s Fernando Gaviria, with the youngster favourite with the bookmakers to spoil Cavendish’s party.
- Odds: Fernando Gaviria 9/4 - Mark Cavendish 7/2, Elia Viviani 9/2 - Sky Bet
Athletics: Women’s 400m Final (02:45) - Team GB’s hopes of a medal in the women’s 400 metre final rested on the shoulders of Christine Ohuruogu, but the 32-year-old failed to qualify, finishing fifth in her semi-final. The favourite for the title will be the impressive American Allyson Felix who is hotly tipped to secure her first individual 400 metres title in Rio.
- Odds: Allyson Felix 4/6, Shaunae Miller 13/8, Phyllis Francis 25/1 - Paddy Power
Best of the Rest
Equestrian: Dressage Individual Grand Prix Freestyle (14:00 BST) - Charlotte Dujardin will have her eyes firmly fixed on winning a third Olympic gold of her career. The 31-year-old picked up two titles in London four years ago and would dearly love to leave Rio as one of Team GB’s many medal success stories.
Sailing: Men’s Laser Final (18:05 BST) - Nick Thompson takes to the seas in pursuit of a medal for Team GB. The Brit is amongst the favourite for gold and could keep up the nation’s proud tradition of sailing success.
Athletics: (02.25 BST) David Rudisha will be looking to defend his Olympic 800 metres title in Rio. The Kenyan currently holds a world record time over the distance and could lay down a fresh marker in these games.
