Leicester City got their title defence off to the worst possible start as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of managerless Hull. The result was certainly a shock to the system for Claudio Ranieri’s side, who lost only three times in the league last term. The season doesn’t get much easier for the Premier League champions as Arsenal come to visit, the only side to beat the Foxes home and away last term.
Arsenal supporters booed their team off the pitch following a 4-3 home defeat to Liverpool on the opening weekend of Premier League fixtures. The Gunners had led 1-0, but found themselves 4-1 down shortly after halftime. The north London side managed to pull two goals back, but were ultimately left disheartened after yet another shambolic opening day display. Some fans were calling for Arsene Wenger to step down last season, and they may be joined by a greater number of disgruntled followers should the team put in another limp performance this weekend.
Leicester City failed to pick up where they left off last season in their defeat at the KCOM Stadium. The Foxes were so impressive going forward and defensively solid last term, but failed to transfer these title winning assets to their first game of the new term and looked vulnerable throughout. Claudio Ranieri will be hoping that his side can get their season up and running with a win against a fragile Arsenal side, and a narrow 1-0 win for the champions is available at the handsome price of 12/1 with BetVictor. However, a clean sheet for either team looks unlikely, with neither side able to shut the other out since Leicester’s return to the top flight in 2014. With this in mind, City to win and both teams to score could be worth a look.
Arsenal enter this game looking to maintain an impressive unbeaten record against the Foxes in the league which stretches back to November 1994. Since then, the Gunners have racked up 13 wins and six draws against their Premier League counterparts, hitting the target no less than 47 times. Last season’s runners-up ran out 5-2 winners in the same fixture last season and are 10/1 with Coral to hit more than 3.5 goals in this match, while a total of four or more goals between the sides is priced at 15/8 with Paddy Power. Alexis Sanchez bagged a hat-trick on his last visit the the King Power Stadium and is well priced at 14/5 with William Hill to score and guide Arsenal to the win.
