Among six Premier League matches on Saturday, runaway leaders Chelsea are the only members of the top six in action. They have an eight-point cushion at the top of the table and are unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions. Opponents Swansea City, managed by former Chelsea assistant boss Paul Clement, are very much on an upward curve after winning three of their past four matches to climb out of the relegation zone.

Tottenham Hotspur take on Stoke City in Sunday’s only Premier League match, but the eyes of the footballing world will largely be focused on events across the capital at Wembley, where Manchester United meet Southampton in the EFL Cup final. Southampton have lost six of their last eight league matches, but they have already beaten both Arsenal and Liverpool in the League Cup and have not conceded a goal in the competition so far. United have been far more consistent and are still challenging for FA Cup and Europa League glory, as well as a top-four spot in the Premier League.

A huge game at both ends of the table will see Leicester City continue their survival fight against Champions League-chasing Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds bounced back from a dismal run to see off Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Anfield in their last fixture and stay fifth, while Leicester have tumbled towards the bottom three on the back of five straight defeats. They have not scored in any of those games, and were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Millwall on Saturday.
- Match Odds: Liverpool 8/13, Draw 3/1, Leicester 5/1 - Betfred
Leicester have been in freefall for the past few weeks and there is little to suggest their mood will improve when Liverpool visit on Monday. Whereas the Foxes will be coming back from a trip to Spain to play Sevilla in the Champions League, Liverpool will be fresh from a two-week break and their high-tempo style is sure to be on turbo-charge mode. Leicester have not scored in the Premier League in 2017, and a Liverpool win to nil looks good value at 19/10 with BetVictor.
A win to nil for Chelsea against Swansea could also be well worth exploring at odds of 21/20. For all of Swansea’s recent improvement, and Paul Clement’s inside knowledge of Chelsea, Antonio Conte’s men have been virtually unstoppable all season, particularly at home where they have won 11 out of 12 league matches.
An interesting market for the EFL Cup final might be on the total number of goals. Southampton’s run to the final has been based on a solid defensive foundation, while Jose Mourinho can be expected to keep things tight at the back for United. It could be that a single goal is enough for either side, and Bet365 has a price of 9/4 that there will be under 1.5 goals in the match.
United should prove strong enough to lift the trophy, and a treble on Chelsea, Liverpool and United just to win their matches this weekend offers a very tempting return at Paddy Power.
- Sports.net’s top tip: A treble on Liverpool (4/6), Chelsea (1/4) and Manchester United (3/4) - 2.65/1 at Paddy Power
