Borussia Mönchengladbach started their Champions League campaign by suffering a 4-0 walloping at the hands of Manchester City. They held off Barcelona for an hour in the following game, leading the Catalans for 30 minutes before eventually succumbing to a 2-1 defeat, and then ran out comfortable 2-0 winners at Celtic Park. Domestically, life has been tough for Gladbach this term and they currently stand in tenth place in the Bundesliga table.
Celtic have looked far from convincing in Europe this year, with the tone being set by a 1-0 defeat to Gibraltan minnows Lincoln Red Imps in the first leg of the Champions League second qualifying round. The group stages started with a 7-0 humbling by Barcelona, before a creditable 3-3 draw with Manchester City, followed by a 2-0 defeat to Tuesday’s hosts. However, it is not all bad news, as they lead the Scottish Premiership by seven points with a game in hand over second-placed Aberdeen.

Despite their domestic prowess, the Bhoys are really struggling in Europe and a trip to Borussia-Park is unlikely to lift the gloom. Gladbach are growing in confidence, whereas Celtic’s sole Champions League point came in a game in which they let a lead slip three times.
In Moussa Dembele, Rodgers’ side possess a player who certainly knows how to score, but their German counterparts proved tough to break down even for the mighty Barcelona, who had to rethink their tactics before they could penetrate the Borussia defence.
The home side have more than enough to see off the Scottish champions with little fuss on the night and it’s likely the hosts will soak up any Celtic pressure in the first half, before punishing their visitors after the break, making Paddy Power’s 7/2 on Draw/Borussia in the Half Time/Full Time market a very good price.
- Sports.net’s Top Tip: Draw/Borussia in the Half Time/Full Time at 7/2 with Paddy Power.
