After a manic Monday of Vitality Netball Superleague action, the question of which teams will be competing in this year’s final four is no closer to being answered. With Loughborough Lightning, Wasps and Manchester Thunder in the box seats, the pressure is on Surrey Storm and Team Bath as both sides face potentially tricky ties in Round 16, the results of which could go a long way to determining who progresses in the competition. Will it be plain sailing for Storm or can the ladies from Somerset cause an almighty upset?

The Fixtures

Friday

Severn Stars v Team Northumbria - It was in the reverse fixture that Team Northumbria picked up their first win of the season, as the Newcastle club ran out 61-39 victors over their Superleague counterparts. Neither side enter this game in any sort of form following heavy defeats in Round 15, but a spectacle could be on the cards as both teams aim to finish the season with a flourish. This encounter should go in favour of the Stars, but it has all the makings of a tight contest.

  • Top Tip: Severn Stars to win - 2/5 - Sky Bet

Team Bath v Sirens - Team Bath continued to keep pace with rivals Surrey Storm as they overcame Team Northumbria in a largely one-sided contest. Now, the Somerset outfit must avoid any slip ups against a Sirens side who still have faint hopes of bagging a place in the semi-finals themselves, following three wins in their last four outings. The Scots must triumph in all their remaining games and hope that others around them falter, but their quest should be ended prematurely with defeat at the Sports Training Village.

  • Top Tip: Team Bath to win - 2/7 - Sky Bet

Saturday

Loughborough Lightning v Celtic Dragons - Loughborough Lightning turned on the style in their last game, thumping Hertfordshire Mavericks 72-51, a result that saw the Leicestershire side all but confirm their place at the top of the Superleague table. Now, Lightning must use their three remaining games as a springboard ahead of the semi-finals and keep their momentum going. A win this weekend should be no problem as they face a Celtic Dragons team who have been floundering at the bottom of the division all season. Expect sparks to fly as the home side go in search of another big win.

  • Top Tip: Loughborough Lightning to win (with -22.5 handicap) - 5/6 - Sky Bet

Hertfordshire Mavericks v Manchester Thunder - Following their defeat to Wasps on Monday, Manchester Thunder’s players would be forgiven for glancing nervously over their shoulders as the gap between third and fifth narrows. Luckily for last year’s Grand Finalists, there are only three games of the season remaining and one more victory should be enough to see them over the line. That win looks likely to come this weekend against a Hertfordshire Mavericks side who have endured a thoroughly disappointing season in which they have picked up just 15 points from a possible 45. An away triumph looks all but certain.

  • Top Tip: Manchester Thunder to win (with -9.5 handicap) - 5/6 - Sky Bet

Monday

Wasps v Surrey Storm - Surrey Storm picked up just their fourth win in nine games on Monday as they crushed Team Northumbria 69-57. Desperate for points, Tania Hoffman will be praying that her team has turned a corner as far as results are concerned, but producing a similar performance against a well-drilled Wasps side could prove very difficult. Storm were stung by the club from Coventry in Round 7, a defeat which started their slide down the table, and now the team in black and yellow could look to earn their stripes by condemning the girls from Guildford to a fifth place finish.

Top Tip: Wasps to win - 1/9 - Sky Bet
