Burnley are bruised from a 4-0 drubbing at West Brom last time out, but will take heart from their home form, which has proved the Lancashire club has the fight to survive in the top flight. Victories at Turf Moor over Liverpool, Watford, Everton and Crystal Palace have provided a solid foundation for the campaign, with only Swansea and Arsenal leaving with all three points.
Manchester City have faltered after a strong start to the season, picking up only two wins from their last six matches. Despite this stumble, a 2-1 victory at Palace last Saturday ensured they remain within a point of leaders Chelsea, tying with the London club as the division’s second highest scorers behind Liverpool.
BT Sport viewers will hope for a goal fest as they devour their lunch on Saturday, with City boasting a formidable attack and Burnley having kept just three clean sheets all season. However, before Sergio Aguero clears a spot for the matchball on his mantelpiece, he should consider that the Clarets have managed to shut out the Blues’ city rivals United and free-scoring Liverpool during this campaign, so they certainly have the ability to organise defensively against the big boys.
Yaya Toure impressed on his return to the City squad last week, bagging both goals in a 2-1 win, and could be in line for another start this weekend as Guardiola allows some of his Champions League charges time to recover from their midweek exploits. Toure is 6/1 at 32Red to score first, but a more realistic bet would be 19/10 from the same company for the Ivorian to find the net at some point during the game. The most likely scorers for the home side are thought to be Sam Vokes and Andre Gray, both priced at 4/1 with Betfred to score at any time.
City should have too much for their opponents on the day, but expect Burnley to put up a good fight, making BetVictor’s 7/4 on a Blues win with both teams scoring seem a decent punt.
- Sports.net’s Top Tip - Manchester City to win and both teams to score at 7/4 with BetVictor
