The Houston Astros and New York Yankees go into their game with both sides boasting similar form. But with the Yankees seemingly not the same away from home, it looks more likely that the home side will prevail.
The LA Dodgers run of wins came to an abrupt halt after losing 4-0 to rivals LA Angels and, despite bouncing back with a 4-0 win themselves the very next day, they ultimately suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of their city rivals. Despite this setback, Dave Roberts’ team should find that winning feeling once again at the San Diego Padres.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are on a run of just two defeats from eleven games, which has seen them move up to the Wild Card positions and are threatening the Play-Off places. They have moved above the Colorado Rockies, whom they face this weekend, with the Rockies having lost their last eight games. The Diamondbacks will certainly be full of confidence ahead of this clash.
The Houston Astros remain top of the American League, despite a surprise defeat to the Oakland Athletics, and go into an exciting weekend of fixtures at home to second-placed New York Yankees. Despite not being the best travellers, the Yankees have picked up a couple of wins at the Chicago White Sox, who now sit bottom of the league, but facing the Astros will be a different proposition altogether. Therefore, it is no surprise that Houston are the slight favourites to win on Saturday at odds of 1/2.
The LA Dodgers remain top of the National League, despite recently losing two of their three games against their city rivals, the LA Angels, and will be keen to get back to winning ways when they travel to the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers go into Saturdays fixtures as strong favourites at 5/12.
Meanwhile, the Arizona Diamondbacks look the most likely to record a win when they face an out of form Colorado Rockies on Saturday at odds of 4/6.
Elsewhere, two wins against the Chicago Cubs has kept the Washington Nationals in second place ahead of their weekend fixtures at the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals were able to prevent form side Arizona Diamondbacks from recording a fifth straight win after beating them 4-3, and will prove a real test for the Nationals. This is too close to call with the Nationals at odds of 15/3, but the Cardinals offer better value to win on Saturday at 4/5.
Three wins from their last four games has seen the Cleveland Indians move up into third place. They face weekend fixtures at the Detroit Lions, who despite their lowly position, have won three of their last four games. Both teams are in form, but with the Indians in with a chance of moving into second, they go into Saturday’s game as the 19/20 favourites.
Finally, at a decent price of 15/13, the San Francisco Giants could spring a surprise at the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Giants have won their last three games and continue this form at the Pirates.
