How the Bookies See it

The Houston Astros finish a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday looking to maintain their lead at the top of the American League. The Astros ran out comfortable 14-7 winners in the first game, to inflict a fourth defeat in five games on a Rays side who sit just outside the Wild Card places. It will be interesting to see how the next couple of games unfold before Friday’s final game.
The Cleveland Indians, currently third in the American League, face an interesting week of fixtures. First, they complete a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox, who won the first game of the series on Tuesday to move up to fourth, just one place below the Indians. Once the Indians finish their fixtures with the Red Sox, they then go into a four-game series with the New York Yankees, who currently sit one place above them in second. It could be a tough week for the Indians, or a week that sees them emerge as real Play Off contenders.
The LA Dodgers have won their last eight games to maintain their clear lead at the top of the National League. This week they are on the road as they travel to the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets – two sides who currently sit mid-table. The Braves have lost their last five games, whilst the Mets currently boast a record of one win in five. The Dodgers will be confident of picking up yet more wins.
Elsewhere, there looks to be an exciting match-up in Chicago as the Cubs in third-place welcome the second-place Washington Nationals for a weekend of fixtures. Both teams currently boast similar form, but the Chicago Cubs travel to the fourth-placed Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week, so face some real tough opposition before hosting the Nationals.
The Oakland Athletics face near neighbours, the San Francisco Giants this week, with both teams struggling in the standings. However, the Athletics have put a run of three straight wins together, which included an 8-5 success over the Giants.
Athletics should win the battle of the strugglers with Giants and are worth backing in both remaining games. The Seattle Mariners have shown some recent form to win three on the bounce and worth looking at to win at the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
A lot will depend on Friday’s game when the Chicago Cubs host the Washington Nationals for the first of three games, but it might pay to get in early on the Washington Nationals to win on Saturday. The Nationals score higher than the Cubs and can use this power to dominate their opposition.
