The 2018 Major League Baseball (MLB) promises to be another action-packed extravaganza, culminating with the World Series in October. Last year’s World Series champions, the Houston Astros, will be hoping to defend their crown, but face a lot of competition from clubs who have improved their squads during the break. This page is updated every week with the latest MLB betting odds and game previews, looking forward to the next set of thrilling fixtures.

The New York Yankees continue to lead the American League and AL East Division, moving their record on to 49-22, whilst current World Series holders, the Houston Astros, are up to second in the AL and have gone top of the AL West Division after a successful week improved their stats to 50-26. The Cleveland Indians continue to show the way in the AL Central Division with figures of 40-33. The Wild Card places are occupied by the Boston Red Sox who stay second in the AL East and third in the AL with figures of 49-26, with the Seattle Mariners dropping to fourth in the American League and second in the AL West Division with a record of 46-28.

In the National League, the Atlanta Braves stay top of the NL East Division having improved their figures to 43-30. They replace the Milwaukee Brewers, who drop to second in the NL with a record to 43-30, whilst the Arizona Diamondbacks continue to lead the NL West Division and stay third in the National League with stats of 40-33. The Wild Card spots are filled by the Chicago Cubs, who lead the NL Central Division with figures of 41-29, whilst the Washington Nationals remain second in the NL East Division with figures of 39-33.

Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees

The American League leaders, the New York Yankees, travel to Tropicana Field for a three-game series this weekend at the Tampa Bay Rays. With a win percentage of .686, the Yankees will be favourites to secure more wins in St. Petersburg against a Rays side that sit below .500. The Yankees have hit 120 home runs in 71 games, more than any other team in the Major Leagues this season, which has helped them bat in a massive 367 runs, second only to the Astros.

The Rays, on the other hand, are all about the contact, managing just 67 home runs - fifth-lowest in MLB - off a solid 625 hits. The two sides already met last week in New York, with the Yankees coming away with a 3-1 series win. We should see the same sort of outcome this week.

Houston Astros vs Kansas City Royals

The Houston Astros are the form team in the MLB at the moment, having won nine of their last ten fixtures. They welcome Kansas City to Minute Maid Park for three games this weekend and they will hope to sweep the Royals just like they did last week. The Astros we comfortable winners, scoring seven or more runs in each game to leave the Royals with just one win in their last 15. The Astros are MLB’s top scorers, with 394 runs in 76 games, including 96 home runs. In contrast, the Royals have managed just 268 runs and have the second-lowest home run tally with just 61. It’s hard to see anything other than a series win for the Astros.

Atlanta Braves v Baltimore Orioles

The in-form Atlanta Braves welcome the struggling Baltimore Orioles to SunTrust Park for three games this weekend. The Braves dominate the Orioles in all areas at the moment and are in the top five for hits, doubles and RBIs so far this season. The Orioles are in horrible form at the moment, having won just two games in 12, so expect to see the Braves rack up more wins this weekend.
