The Houston Astros are on a real roll at the moment, having recently recorded four comfortable wins from five fixtures – with the one defeat being a marginal 5-6. They remain top of the American League going into their weekend fixtures at the Seattle Mariners, who themselves are on a winning streak, having won their last four games.

The New York Yankees are clinging on to second place, despite suffering three defeats at the hands of bottom side Oakland Athletics. The Yankees face a three-game series at the LA Angels, before weekend fixtures at home against the Texas Rangers.

In the National League, the LA Dodgers continue to notch up the wins, and now boast a record of just one defeat in thirteen fixtures. The league leaders face weekend games with the Colorado Rockies, who are also on decent form.

The Washington Nationals are doing just enough to remain in second place ahead of their weekend fixtures with the Cincinnati Reds. The Nationals are struggling for consistency at the moment, so it’s not a foregone conclusion that they will beat the Reds on Saturday, but the visitors are also struggling to put together results.’s View

The Astros look to have rediscovered their mojo to maintain their lead at the top of the American League, but three wins against bottom side Oakland Athletics should be treated with caution when they come up against a Seattle Mariners side in impressive form themselves.

After suffering three defeats at the hands of bottom side Oakland Athletics, people had started doubting the Yankees credentials to remain in the top three. They are back at Yankee Stadium this weekend, where they are at their very best, and should be too good for the visiting Texas Rangers.

The LA Dodgers continue to roll on and it’s hard to see where their next defeat is going to come from. In theory, the Dodgers should be too good once again up against the Colorado Rockies, but the visitors arrive on a roll, so won’t be pushovers. It would take a huge performance from the Rockies to beat the home side, but might be worth a look if the odds are favourable.
