The 2017 MLB World Series takes place this week, with the LA Dodgers taking on the Houston Astros.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, who have been impressive all season, secured their place to compete for the World Series with a crushing 4-1 National League Championship Series (NLCS) win over the Chicago Cubs. The Dodgers, winners of the NL West Division and top-placed overall in National League, cruised into the NLCS with a 3-0 defeat of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL Playoffs. They then overcame the Chicago Cubs with relative ease to make the World Series.

The Astros comfortably beat the Boston Red Sox 3:1 in the AL Playoffs before being taken to seven games before they could overcome the New York Yankees and book their place in the season decider.

The LA team have been brilliant all season. Finishing top of the National League with 104 wins to 58 losses was impressive enough, but they have gone on to lose just once more in the Playoffs and NLCS when brushing aside good sides in the Arizona Diamondbacks and current World Series holders, the Chicago Cubs.

The Houston Astros, who led the American League for a long time during the season, had to battle past the New York Yankees and, psychologically, that could be telling.

The Bets

Although, at 8/13, the Dodgers are a very short price to be crowned World Series Champions, it is hard to see the Astros beating them over seven games. Score betting might be the way to go, with a 4-0 whitewash being priced at 9/1. If you think it will be much closer, the Dodgers to edge a seven-game thriller is 4/1, whilst 4-3 to the Astros is 11/2.
