Race seven of the 2018 MotoGP Championship is the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, which will be held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday 17th June. Marc Marquez arrives with a comfortable lead at the top of the World Standings, 23 points ahead of his nearest rival, Valentino Rossi. Maverick Viñales is in third-place, 28 points behind Marquez.

The Barcelona-Catalunya circuit has been a host track on the MotoGP calendar since 1992 and it is a venue enjoyed by riders and fans alike. Located just 25km to the north of Barcelona, it is the home venue for Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo, Maverick Viñales and Dani Pedrosa.

Current World Champion, Marc Marquez, is a strong favourite for the race at odds of 6/4, whilst Andrea Dovizioso is the 10/3 second-favourite. Four-time winner at this track, Jorge Lorenzo, is a 9/2 third-favourite with six-time winner and current second-placed rider Valentino Rossi a 13/2 hope, just behind Maverick Viñales at 7/1.

Marc Marquez failed to register a point at the Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley at the Autodromo del Mugello two weeks ago as he looked for a fourth win in a row. He is back in front of a home crowd at Barcelona and was the winner there back in 2014, before finishing second at the track in 2016. He is sure to be a threat again but other riders have better form on the circuit.

Valentino Rossi has moved up to second in the standings, having finished the last two races in third position. The Italian has won at Barcelona six times, the first success coming back in 2001. His most recent victory in Barcelona came in 2016, so he has enjoyed racing at the track over a number of years and can go very well again with the form he is in.

Maverick Viñales, currently third in the World Standings, continues to struggle to make it onto the podium, having not done so since finishing runner-up in Texas at the end of April. Worryingly, he has never enjoyed a podium finish in Barcelona either, so it would be a surprise to see him challenging this time around.

Jorge Lorenzo has enjoyed four wins in Barcelona, in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015. He goes into the race having won the previous GP at Autodromo del Mugello and is sure to threaten for the victory once again in front of a passionate home crowd.'s View

This looks like being a wide-open race, with Marc Marquez struggling for victories at this track; his price of 6/4 looks far too short. Instead, this could be a contest fought out by Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, both of whom have more enticing odds and impressive previous form at the track.'s Top Tip

Dani Pedrosa has finished on the podium at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya every year since 2011, but also won there in 2008. He looks like a very good each-way hope, with odds of 11/1 to take the win.
