Premier League Betting Tips: Liverpool v West Ham

Updated Monday 12th December 2016, 08:57 AM

Liverpool welcome West Ham United to Anfield on Sunday afternoon in a key match at both ends of the table. While Jurgen Klopp’s men will be desperate to bounce back from last week’s agonising loss to Bournemouth and keep the pressure on the Premier League leaders, West Ham need to start picking up points to pull clear of the relegation battle.

How the Bookies See it:

  • Winner: Liverpool 1/3, Draw 9/2, West Ham 15/2 - Paddy Power
  • First Goalscorer: Divock Origi (LIV) 7/2, Roberto Firmino 7/2 (LIV), Sadio Mane 4/1 (LIV) - Ladbrokes
  • Correct Score: Liverpool 2-0 15/2, Liverpool 2/1 15/2, Liverpool 3-0 17/2 - Bet365

  • Liverpool’s unbeaten run of 11 league games came to an end in dramatic style last weekend as they squandered a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 at Bournemouth, dropping them down to third in the standings and four points adrift of leaders Chelsea. Liverpool’s home form has been exceptional, though, and they have scored 19 goals in six Premier League matches at Anfield without losing once.
  • A disappointing season for West Ham continued last Saturday as they were hammered 5-1 by an Alexis Sanchez-powered Arsenal. The Hammers have now gone five games without a win in the league and head into the weekend just one point clear of the bottom three.
  • West Ham had the better of the matches between the two sides last season, winning 3-0 at Anfield and 2-0 at Upton Park, before knocking Liverpool out of the FA Cup after a replay.’s View

West Ham look a shadow of the side that performed so well last season and even Slaven Bilic’s revised target of finishing in the top half looks extremely optimistic at the moment. Bilic admitted to feeling ‘humiliated’ after the defeat by Arsenal and will be demanding a strong response but, considering West Ham’s defensive fragility and Liverpool’s sparkling home form, it is hard to envisage anything other than a home win at Anfield and even short odds of 1/3 on Liverpool with Paddy Power will interest a lot of punters.

Divock Origi, enjoying a run in the Reds side following the injury to Philippe Coutinho, has scored in three consecutive matches and is well priced to be the first goalscorer at 4/1 with Paddy Power, while regular penalty taker James Milner may be worth considering at 5/2 in the anytime goalscorer market.

In a match which could prove to be one-sided, it may also be worth considering an Asian Handicap or a bet on the winning margin, rather than trying to predict the correct score. Coral has odds of 15/8 that Liverpool will win by three or more goals, something they have achieved in three of their six home matches already this season (against Leicester City, Hull City and Watford), and West Ham’s performance against Arsenal last week did not suggest they will offer much resistance.

•’s top tip: Liverpool to win by three or more goals - 15/8 at Coral
