Premier League Darts 2016 Play-Offs Betting Preview

Michael van Gerwen has once again made the final four of Premier League darts and is hoping to go one better than the past two years, where he finished second on both occasions. The 2013 champion faces a stern challenge at London’s O2 on Thursday night from last year’s winner Gary Anderson, the evergreen Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and outsider Adrian Lewis.

Van Gerwen goes into Play-Offs night having banked the £25,000 bonus for topping the Premier League rankings for the season, but after achieving that feat in each of the previous three years and only taking the title once, he knows it brings no guarantee of lifting the trophy. The Dutchman currently holds the lion’s share of the available PDC titles, making it no surprise that the bookies have made him favourite to prevail on the night.

Mighty Mike will take on Stoke’s Adrian Lewis in the semi-final, with the Englishman seen as a rank outsider to win the tournament. Lewis is no pushover though, having destroyed fellow top four finisher Gary Anderson 7-2 in the previous round of games.

Anderson’s semi-final opponent is Phil Taylor, who is tipped to win through and potentially set up a rematch with van Gerwen, who beat him 7-5 last week in Rotterdam.’s view

It is difficult to see past a van Gerwen vs Taylor final, with both men certainly having enough to win through their semi-finals if they play to their full potential. However, it is very difficult to predict which of these great, well-matched foes will claim the title on the night, but after two close calls in recent years, the silverware must surely be heading back across the Channel with van Gerwen this time around.

•’s top tip: Van Gerwen to beat Lewis with a handicap of 5.5 - 2/1
