As Christmas slowly creeps into view, the footballing calendar is starting to look a lot more jam packed as some of Europe’s top teams prepare to wind down for the winter break. This week sees the Champions League and the Europa League group stages reach their climax as the continent’s very best sides aim to secure progression to the knockout stages in 2017. There is also action from League 2 as clubs aim to catch up on their counterparts before the rush of the festive season. casts an eye over the week’s upcoming fixtures and offers a helping hand to those hoping to build lucrative accumulators.

Top Tips

  • Paris Saint Germain - Playing their final game of the Champions League group stages, PSG will be looking to take top spot ahead of challengers Arsenal. The perennial French champions should make light work of Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad and keep a clean sheet in the process. - PSG win to nil: 8/11 BetVictor
  • Besiktas - The Turkish champions currently occupy third place in their Champions League group and need a win to guarantee a safe passage through to the knockout stages. Expect the side from Istanbul to take the spoils against a Dynamo Kyiv team who have struggled in this year’s competition. - Besiktas to win: 13/10 BetVictor
  • Barcelona - Already assured of top spot in Group C, the Spanish giants are aiming to end their 2016 continental campaign with a flourish against Borussia Monchengladbach. A home win is surprisingly well priced at 1/3, but a victory with both sides scoring could up the value of any accumulator and is not to be sniffed at given Barcelona’s defensive form of late. - Barcelona to win and BTTS: 13/8 William Hill
  • Stevenage - Having flirted with the relegation zone in the early stages of the season, Stevenage have found some form of late, picking up three wins in their last five games. A trip to South Wales to face League 2’s bottom side Newport County looks like an excellent opportunity to extend this run, even if the home side have enjoyed a win or two of late following the appointment of former Boro manager Graham Westley. - Stevenage to win: 21/10 Bet365

  • FC Copenhagen - In desperate need of a win to avoid early elimination, the Danish champions travel to face Group G whipping boys Club Brugge. A 4-0 win in the reverse fixture on Matchday 2 might not occur this time around for the Lions, but expect a comfortable victory for the away side. -  FC Copenhagen to win: 23/20 Bet365
  • Juventus - The Italian side may have already qualified for the last 16, but don’t count on the Old Lady easing up in this game. Dinamo Zagreb head to Turin with no points and no goals from five Champions League group games, a run that doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon. -  Juventus to win to nil: 4/7 Paddy Power
  • Tottenham - Spurs have failed spectacularly on their long-awaited return to the Champions League and already find themselves eliminated. However, expect the North London side to go out on a high with a first win at Wembley against a CSKA Moscow team who have also disappointed in Group E. - Tottenham to win: 8/15 William Hill

  • Sparta Prague - The 12-time Czech champions have impressed in the Europa League this season, picking up 12 points from a possible 15. A trip to the San Siro to face already eliminated Inter looms, but given the home side’s fortunes this season, a win for the central European outfit could be worth a bet. -  Sparta Prague to win: 10/3 Coral

  • Estimated Odds: 696/1 (Based on 8 fold odds from Bet365)

*Please note that odds may fluctuate in the run-up to kick-off.
