Wakefield Trinity hit form going into June, but have won only two of their last seven matches. Last week’s 36-6 reverse away at Huddersfield will have hurt, but Trinity are only a point from the top four and will be hopeful of turning things around. Leeds Rhinos overcame a 34-0 battering from Wigan on the last day of the regular campaign to wreak revenge on Warriors in the form of a 32-16 victory in Round 1 of the Super 8s last week. Four league wins from five have seen Rhinos pull three points clear of third-placed Hull FC.

Salford Red Devils occupy fourth spot in the table, despite a wretched run of just one win in eight league games. They can thank their early-season form for their lofty position, but that could soon change as the heat turns up on the Super 8s. Castleford Tigers saw their 12-match unbeaten run come crashing down after a 26-12 humbling at the hands of St Helens last week. However, they remain bolted-on favourites to lift the League Leader’s Shield.’s View

Expect the wounded Tigers to take out their frustrations on this weekend’s beleaguered foe. Sky Bet’s 2/5 is the best price you’ll find on an away win, but you might also look at the same company’s 11/10 on Cas to prevail even with a handicap of ten. Paddy Power has 15/8 on them winning having given Salford an 18.5-point head start and that’s certainly not out of the question.

The bookmakers are expecting Leeds to build on last week’s win over Wigan by taking down Wakefield in their own back yard. However, Trinity have been a force to be reckoned with for the majority of the season and, although they have endured a recent dip and perhaps been distracted by speculation over their Super League future, they will be no pushovers. BetVictor’s 13/5 on a Trinity win is very tempting indeed.

Of course, Leeds are a class act, but they are not infallible, as Widnes, Wigan and Hull have discovered in recent weeks. Thursday’s game will be a real test for Brian McDermott’s men and the oddsmakers may well live to regret offering such long odds on Trinity.’s Top Tip
