Vitality Netball Superleague - Round 13 Preview and Betting Tips

Updated Wednesday 3rd May 2017, 12:44 PM

With just six games to go in the Superleague season, this Monday’s round of fixtures presents the perfect opportunity for Loughborough Lightning, Wasps, Manchester Thunder and Surrey Storm to consolidate their places in this year’s semi-finals. However, be sure that any errors will be pounced upon as the chasing pack begin to circle. Will there be any surprises as the sides enter the home straight or will it be business as usual for the teams at the top of the table?

The Fixtures

Surrey Storm v Team Bath - Surrey Storm’s recent run of bad results has seen them slip from table toppers to uncertainties for the final four. Despite this alarming slump, the girls from Guildford will have the chance to open up a sizeable gap between themselves and the chasing pack should they see off an unpredictable Team Bath side in the opening game of the bank holiday. Home advantage could prove enough to earn Storm victory and all but end the Somerset squad’s hopes of making the semi-finals for a second consecutive season.

  • Top Tip: Surrey Storm to win

Celtic Dragons v Hertfordshire Mavericks - Any hopes the Mavericks had of making this year’s top four evaporated weeks ago following a run of one win in six games at the beginning of the campaign. However, last season’s beaten semi-finalists will be determined to end the year with a flurry, and there could be no better place to grab a morale-boosting win than at the home of Superleague’s bottom side, Celtic Dragons. Expect the away team to leave Wales with all three points this Monday.

  • Top Tip: Hertfordshire Mavericks to win

Wasps v Severn Stars - Appearing in front of the Sky Sports cameras for just the third time this season, Wasps will be hoping to show why they are considered to be one of the favourites to land the Superleague title in June. The experience of Rachel Dunn and the tenacity of Natalie Haythornthwaite and George Fisher have proved decisive for the division’s newcomers this year, and it is these qualities that should help the club from Coventry secure a first ever league double over Severn Stars.

  • Top Tip: Wasps to win

Manchester Thunder v Team Northumbria - After narrowly missing out on last season’s title, Thunder have their eyes firmly set on reaching the semi-finals again this year. The two-time champions should achieve their goal, especially with just six games of the campaign to go, but Karen Greig will be wary of her squad succumbing to any last minute slip ups. Monday’s game against a Team Northumbria side who looked destined to finish in the division’s bottom two shouldn’t provide too many difficult moments, as the home team aim to give the fans at the Thunderdome something to shout about.

  • Top Tip: Manchester Thunder to win

Sirens v Loughborough Lightning - Sirens have endured a consistently inconsistent debut Superleague season and look almost certain to miss out on a place in the top four. Things won’t get any easier for the Scottish side this Monday as they face a Loughborough Lightning team who have been in scintillating form this term. Another win should be enough to see Lightning safely into the semis, not that the ladies from Leicestershire can afford to be complacent just yet. Things could get messy at the Emirates Arena, especially if top scorer Peace Proscovia hits her stride.
