Frenchman Sebastien Ogier has scored two victories so far in 2019; the first was in the season opener in Monte Carlo and the second was in round 3 in Mexico. Close rival Thierry Neuville finished in 1st place at the last outing in Corsica, while Estonian driver Ott Tanak took the victory in Sweden. So how do the odds look ahead of Argentina?
World Rally Championship Winner Odds

Ott Tanak (Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT) is unsurprisingly the bookies favourite to win the Drivers Title this year at 4/9, after his debut season in the Toyota Yaris WRC in 2018 helped him to achieve an impressive four rally wins. The Estonian’s progress hasn’t slowed so far this year, with three consecutive podium places (3rd, 1st, and 2nd).
Sebastien Ogier (Citroen Total WRT) is close behind with odds of 5/2 on winning the 2019 championship. The Citroen driver has already achieved two victories this season, on the back of six consecutive Drivers Championship titles (2013 – 2018). There’s no doubt as to Ogier’s ability to win, and his strong performance so far this year shows he still has what it takes to maintain a steady increase in points throughout the year.
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai Motorsport) is the third favourite to win this year at 5/1. After a consistently strong start to the season, the Belgian driver is now top of the Driver’s Championship standings for 2019. With 82 points under his belt, Neuville will have to remain focused to maintain or strengthen his advantage over Ogier, who sites on 80 points.
Betting Tips for Argentina
Last year’s Argentina outing saw Ott Tanak take his first ever victory for the Toyota Gazoo team. After a tough start to the first day, he then managed to put in a solid performance over the next three days to win the event with a lead of just over 37 seconds. Tanak will be the man to watch this time around as he tries to repeat the success of 2018, with a whole year’s experience in the Toyota now in the bag.
Neuville is certainly another to consider taking a punt on. The Hyundai driver managed to take the top spot with a lead of just 0.7 seconds over M-Sport’s Elfyn Evans here in 2017. The fact that he wasn’t able to repeat his success in at the 2018 event will surely leave him eager to hold off Tanak in what could be a close push to the finish.
For an outsider bet, take a look towards Welshman Elfyn Evans. With two podium finishes so far in 2019 (3rd place in Mexico, 3rd place in Corsica), he’s certainly building confidence in the Fiesta. Combine that with his astonishing 2017 Argentina performance and there’s no reason why he can’t take the fight to the likes of Neuville, Ogier and Tanak. A bet on Evans winning the Drivers Championship is a long shot, but for the Argentina event, he could yet grab his 2nd rally win.
