WWE No Mercy 2017 Betting Preview

Updated Monday 25th February 2019, 02:57 PM

WWE No Mercy 2017 will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, this Sunday 24 September. This will be the 13th No Mercy event since the first was staged in the UK way back in 1999, and the headline match this year will see Brock Lesnar take on Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship. Professional wrestling fans are also looking forward to seeing John Cena and Roman Reigns battle for supremacy after weeks of hearing them exchange blows verbally. In WWE, almost anything can happen, so what kind of outcome do the bookmakers expect?

  • Brock Lesnar is the current WWE Universal Champion and will therefore be defending that title when facing Braun Strowman this Sunday. A former professional MMA fighter, Lesnar has been WWE world champion five times, and is widely regarded as one of the best pro wrestlers ever seen.
  • Braun Strowman is a former strongman who has been associated with The Wyatt Family since his appearance on the WWE scene in 2015. Strowman missed out on an opportunity to become the Universal Champion in a four-way match in July of this year, but now has a chance to do so by beating Lesnar this weekend.
  • John Cena prides himself on being a good guy, and is familiar to fans of both the Smackdown and Raw brands. He enjoyed a brief foray into the rap industry when releasing an album in 2005, and has been involved in a number of feuds. It is no secret that he is looking forward to facing Roman Reigns in the ring this Sunday.
  • Roman Reigns has been exchanging verbal insults with John Cena for a while. Never one to avoid picking a fight with the establishment or other WWE stars, his most recent feud has been with Braun Strowman. It is unfortunate for Reigns that Strowman is up against Lesnar in this year’s No Mercy event, but he will have enough on his plate with Cena.

Sports.net’s View

Let’s face it, professional wrestling is performance art, and nobody really has any clue about what will happen in the ring this Sunday. That said, it would be a big shock – and an even bigger plot twist – if Brock Lesnar fails to beat Braun Strowman, and so we will side with the WIlliam Hill favourite to win.
